| Welcome to the Classy Kids Academy of Etiquette/Marketplace Manners.
Born in North Florida, Lydia Allison had the privilege of being raised with a deep southern heritage rich in manners and etiquette. Being the granddaughter of an established southern family, it was through her family that she was taught the value and importance of knowing and practicing manners and etiquette. Presently living in Mississippi, Ms. Allison observed a great need for etiquette and manners instruction. Since schools no longer include manners instruction in their curriculum and parents desire their children to receive instruction in manners, Ms. Allison started creating and writing a curriculum to teach children politeness, courteous and training in manners and etiquette. Thus, The Classy Kids Academy of Etiquette was born. The programs are filled with age –old friendly traditional proper etiquette facilitated in a contemporary child friendly environment conducive to learning. Because Ms. Allison believes that children (and adults) can learn while doing, the programs are very fun and provide lots of hands on interaction and activity. Because the programs were so successful, Ms. Allison expanded the training to include curriculum for college students and Business Etiquette for Professionals and has taught for years to the professional world.
In 2005, after receiving telephone calls from ABC casting producers, Ms. Allison and her family were selected to appear on the ABC Reality TV Show “Wife Swap” where two moms who are opposites swap places with their families in the home (not the bedroom!). The focus of the episode was on teaching manners and etiquette to 3 rowdy little boys while the other mom tried to teach rowdiness and raucousness to her family. Using creative ideas and strategies from her curriculum, Ms. Allison was triumphant and the episode won an award for the Best TV show of the week by the Parents Council on TV and also was voted one of the most memorable Wife Swap episodes ever. The episode has been shown worldwide and is still shown regularly on the Lifetime channel. Ms. Allison and her family still reside in Mississippi today. Her 2 oldest children are now in college while her youngest child is still in high school. Ms. Allison and her family are very active in their church and their community.
